"Social Network Marketing: Advertising to Facebook Users"

"Social Network Marketing: Advertising to Facebook Users"

By Merle http://www.payperclickresearch.com/

In the "old days", if you wanted to meet someone, you had to get dressed up and drive to a public place. Not any more. The Internet has changed all of that with the popularity of social networking sites. Two of the biggest are MySpace and Facebook.

Basically, a social network website allows you to register, display photos and some personal information, then you can invite others to become "your friends". You can meet thousands of people right from the comfort ofyour living room. How great is that?

Facebook has an audience of over 100 million people withover 24 million active users. The majority of visitorsto the site are between the ages of 18 to 34. Next to MySpace, it is the second largest social networking site online. If you'd like to advertise on Facebook and reach this young, highly targeted audience, now you can.

When setting up your ads, you can choose to target people by age, location, gender, interests, education and more. For example, you could choose to target 26 year old women who are interested in men and are single in the U.S. When making your audience selections, you'll be shown the number of users who fit your chosen profile that will see your ad. Facebook ads are displayed in the side column of almost all pages. There may be up to three ads appearing on each page.

You can also choose to buy ads on a CPC (cost per click) basis, or CPM (cost per thousand) impressions. The title of your ad can be up to 25 characters and the body text up to 135 characters in total. A small image can also be uploaded, but must fit inside a 110X80 box ad format. You are also asked to select keywords that relate to your ads.

If you decide to advertise on a CPM basis, the minimum budget you can set is $1.00 per day, with a minimum per one thousand impression bid of only $.10. They will give you bid suggestions, but you are free to set it to your needs.

If advertising on a pay-per-click basis, again, the minimum daily budget you can set is $1.00, with the minimum cost per click being one penny. Again, suggested bid amounts are given. You can set your ad to run continuously or only during specified times.

Facebook makes it easy to track your progress with downloadable Excel reports. It's easy to see how well your ads are performing at a glance.

There are three different types of reports:

1) "Responder Profiles"- This information is gleaned from users profiles, and will tell you what types of common interests people have who are clicking onyour ads.

2) "Responder Demographics"- This report tells you the sex, age and geographic location of those clicking on your ads.

3) "Advertising Performance"- Detailed reports whichshow you impressions, click-throughs, etc. This report can be broken down by month, week or time of day.

As part of their advertising program, you'll automaticallybe subscribed to Facebook's newsletter which will keep you up to date on news, updates and tips for best ad practices.

Social network marketing is an effective way to reach a highly targeted audience, and shouldn't be forgotten when putting together a well rounded marketing plan. If you haven't considered this type of advertising in the past, now's a good time to take another look. Social networks continue to grow in popularity as millions of people continue to flock to this type of website daily.

Article Submitter Review

While article submission isn't anything shockingly new to the world of SEO, many people STILL don't do it... and for good reason. It takes so incredibly long to do manually.

I'll admit, I had tried article submission at one point, but after I finally found a few article dircetories to submit my articles to, and then after manually copying and pasting my information into the required textboxes on each submission site, I quickly realized that my time could be better spent doing something else.

Then I came across a free program created by Brad Callen and Bryxen Software, Inc. that allows you to automatically submit your articles to hundreds of article directories with a few mouse clicks. Basically all I had to do was input my article criteria into the software, ONCE! Then, the program would automatically fill in all of the required data at each of the submission websites. Pretty incredible if you ask me.

The only part I didn't understand was why the program is free... but I can't argue with that I suppose.

The software currently contains around 700 article directories, all free to submit your articles to. It is the most straightforward program that we've come across, in that all you need to do is:

1. Input your article details (i.e. title, article body, bio, etc.) into the software
2. Click on the directory you want to submit to

And then the program will automatically fill in your article details. Then, you simply click the submit button and your article is instantly submitted to the directory. Then, you can move to the next directory, go through the list, and by the time you're finished you'll have roughly 700 one way links pointing to your website.

I can't think of an easier way to get links. Of course, if you're going to get links this quickly, it's important to submit different variations of your articles, to make things look more natural to the search engines.

You can do this very easily via Article Submitter when you create your project in the beginning.

The software is constantly being updated and their is an incredible community of users established that all work together to make the software better and better, so you know you're getting great value for the money.

"Advertise on Amazon with ClickRiver Ads"

I have to admit it. I'm a book junkie. I absolutely love books. Some people get excited by shoes or clothing - for me it's the printed word on paper. It's crazy I know. And like me, people who love books, love Amazon. It's your one stop shop when it comes to book buying. In the "old days", books were all they sold, now they also sell movies, music, digital downloads, computers, electronics, home & garden, groceries, apparel, and much more.

With such a broad shopping base, it should be no surprise that they receive more than 47 million visitors per month. Now that's a lot of traffic. No one does it quite like Amazon. Not only are their visitors Internet savvy, but they're in what's known as "shopping mode", not just "search mode" -which means they're actually looking to purchase something. This is considered to be a more engaged type of browser.

According to Amazon, the visitors to their site have the following stats in common:

72% Are Online Daily
81% More Likely to Give Shopping Advice
33% Are Business Purchase Decision Makers

If you'd like to "cash in" on these demographics and run your ads on Amazon's website, now you can. Amazon's shopping search is powered by A9.com (also owned by Amazon) and they offer their own pay-per-click advertising called "ClickRiver Ads". With this service you can place "sponsored links" on Amazon's search results and product detail pages.

So where do your ads appear? Text ads appear at the bottom of the pages that have related products to what it is you are advertising. For example, say you sell "computer training services". Your ads might appear on search results pages for laptops or even desktop computers.

When registering with ClickRiver, you'll bid on keywords just as you do with any pay-per-click search engine, but you'll also need to choose a category that best fits the services you offer.

Here are a few of the current categories available:

- Home Service Businesses
- Health and Fitness Services
- Education Providers
- Professional Services
- Automotive Services
- Pet Services.....

and many more. If you don't see an appropriate category for what you're offering you can suggest it using the link on this page http://tinyurl.com/59vuny

As with any pay-per-click program, you only pay for actual click-throughs to your website. Keep in mind that the higher you bid the more likely your ads will appear on a page. Daily budgets can also be set and ad campaigns can be started or stopped at will.

Another nice feature is the ability to target a specific geographic area. You can choose to target by zip code or country or anything in between.

For more information or to register go to:

http://clickriver.com/

In conclusion, the traffic on Amazon is an educated group of people earning an above average salary. They also are using the net daily and researching and buying products online. If you'd like to tap into the power of Amazon's strong demographics, ClickRiver's your answer.

"Merchants Wanted: Pay Per Click Advertising with Comparison Search Engines"

Anyone who advertises on the Internet knows about pay-per-click search engines like Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing. But did you know that if you sell products online there's a tool out there specifically for you?

A different form of pay-per-click that uses "comparison search engines". These are actually search engines just for products. Searchers use this type of search engine when searching to purchase a specific product. With the information this type of engine provides, shoppers can locate the cheapest price by comparing prices for a variety of stores all in one place. It's an easy way of doing research before making a purchase and helps the buyer to make more informed shopping decisions. One example of this type of site is Shopping.com

Search results generally include a small picture and sometimes customer comments, or ratings. If you're searching for something online these search engines really are a must to ensure you're not paying too much for your intended purchase.

So, now you know what a shopping search engine is and why they're good for onsumersc. Let's talk about why they're also a good thing for merchants, and why you'll want to include them in your online advertising campaigns.

The first major factor is "less competition". If you've been advertising with Google or Yahoo, which most online advertisers use, you will notice that since comparison search engines are only for products, there are less players in the game. Thus you'll stand a better chance of standing out in the crowd and obtaining a good ranking.

All vendors do appear in the search results, but ranking for each shopping search engine is usually based on multiple factors: bid relevancy, popularity, bid amount. Each uses different criteria when deciding who's going to appear at the top.

So how do these search engines get paid, and what's in it for them? I thought you'd never ask. Most engines allow you to submit your products for free and only charge merchants for actual click-throughs. Some make money on any actual sales that are made using their sites.

The traffic you'll receive from this type of specialty search engine is considered to be more "qualified". As these browsers are actively searching for a product to purchase they are in "shopping mode" and are “spend ready”. More qualified traffic means higher conversions for you.

Every comparison search engine has different rules for submitting your products, but the majority are all the same. They ask for merchants to upload their products in the form of a "data feed" which is usually in TXT, CSV, or XML format. This is essentially a list of all the products the merchant wants included in the search results. It consists of pictures and short descriptions.

Now that I've got your interest, let's take a look at some of these shopping search engines and where you can go to submit your products.

1) Yahoo: "Product Submit" http://Shopping.Yahoo.com

http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/shopsb/index.php

This is Yahoo's product submission page. Minimum bids
vary depending on which category you select. The amount you
bid per click will determine your ranking.

2) Froogle: http://google.com/base/help/sellongoogle.html

My personal favorite when I'm in "shopping mode". Froogle
is Google's shopping engine. No fees to list your products
and no fees for click-throughs to your website. If
submitting more than ten items, Google suggests you upload
a data feed.

3) MySimon- http://www.MySimon.com

4) Shopping.com- http://www.Shopping.com

ome

An Ebay company which lists thousands of products from
online stores. Twenty million unique visitors per month.
Merchants can list products for free and only pay for
clicks. The cost per click amount depends on the
category chosen. To be listed in the top three search
results is called "featured store placement" and is
based on the top three bids.

5) PriceGrabber.com- http://www.PriceGrabber.com

http://www.pricegrabber.com/sell_here.php/

With over 26 million unique monthly visitors, PriceGrabber
is a strong contender in the shopping search engine
arena. You only pay for clicks to your store. Merchants
can choose to enhance their presence through logos
and what they call "Featured Merchant Product Listings".
There are additional charges for these services.

6) Shopzilla: http://www.ShopZilla.com

http://merchant.shopzilla.com/oa/shopping_search/

No set up fees to list your products and you only
pay for clicks. When opening your account you'll
need to fund it with 50.00 which gets applied to
click-throughs as needed. Your product listings
will also appear in Shopzilla's other sites such
as Bizrate, AOL's Instore.com, etc.

7) Become.com- http://www.Become.com

http://www.become.com/merchant
Founded in 2004, you'll find no set up fees to
submit your products. You'll only be charged for
clicks to your site. Each category has a minimum
cost per click. Your ranking is based on three
factors: relevance, bid amount and popularity.

There is no doubt that comparison search engines can send additional traffic to your online store. If you haven't been using them because you didn't know what they were, or how to include them, now you know. You no longer have any excuses for not adding them to your online marketing arsenal.

For additional information on this subject see these

engines.

All things considered, shopping search engines are not only an excellent tool for online shoppers, they're also a dream come true for merchants who are trying to increase their store front traffic. If you haven't used them in the past, now's your chance to get your products in front of millions of online shoppers. And who knows, you might have just what they're looking for!

"Test Your Landing Pages With Google's Website Optimizer"

If you're doing any kind of pay-per-click advertising, you need to know what's working and what isn't when it comes to your advertising campaigns. Testing and tracking needs to be your middle name. So what are we testing? Your landing pages of course. A landing page is the page someone is sent to when they click on your ad. If your landing page isn't "converting" you'll be throwing good money after bad.

A conversion is what happens when someone visits your landing page and performs a wanted action. When you test your landing pages and find out what's working, you can use that information to increase your conversions.

The problem with testing is that the software you need is generally very expensive. Well, how would you like a top notch testing solution that won't cost you a dime? Google offers a free service called "Website Optimizer" http://www.google.com/websiteoptimizer It runs from within your own web browser so there's nothing to download or install.

The first step is to decide what you want to test. You can test different headlines, graphics, layouts, calls to action, long copy versus short copy - all contained on the same page, or you can create two different pages to test against each other. If you already use Google Adwords, you can access Optimizer from within the Adwords interface. It canbe found under the "myclient center".

You can choose from two types of tests:

1) A/B Testing- Also known as split testing, and the easiest
type of test to run. In this type of test you set up two
different versions of your landing page and traffic is
then split between the two to find out which one has a
higher conversion.

2) MultiVariable Test- A bit more complicated, this type
of test allows you to test different elements all on the
same pages. For example, you could test different headlines,
graphics, blocks of copy, etc.

Your landing page, (aka test page), must include some call to action. In other words, it must ask them to do something -subscribe to your ezine, buy your product or service, or download something.

Google calls each test an "experiment". There are only four steps when it comes to setting up an experiment. You'll be given some code to copy and paste onto your test page, and your conversion pages. A conversion page is where the viewer goes after performing the wanted action on your landing (test) page.

Make sure you set everything up correctly from the get- Go. If not, and you need to make a change to something, you'll have to go back and re-paste the code on all of your pages. Once the code is in place, Google's validation tool will tell you if something was not done correctly in your setup.

You can decide to test all or only a percentage of your website traffic. Keep in mind if you go with only a certain percentage of your visitors, the test will take
longer to complete. Experiments can also be stopped or paused at anytime.

After your experiment starts, you'll be shown the estimated duration and number of impressions and conversions tracked. Google's graphical reports are simple and easy to read and understand. So even if you're not a math guru, you'll understand what you're looking at when viewing the test results.

Some other helpful resources to help you are:

Google's Optimizer Blog
http://www.websiteoptimizer.blogspot.com/

Google Analytics Blog
http://www.analytics.blogspot.com/

There is no doubt that testing and tracking your landing pages will increase your conversions. If you've been sitting on the sidelines, here's your chance to become a "landing page detective" - and the best part is, it won't cost you a dime.

Stop throwing money away and know once and for all what's working with your landing pages. Google's Website Optimizer makes it simple and easy for you to start testing. So what are you waiting for? Get out that white lab coat and wipe off those beakers -it's testing time.

"Pay-Per-Click Advertising with Microsoft adCenter"

Microsoft, not to be left out of the pay-per-click race, followed on the heels of Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing with their own program called "Microsoft adCenter". While you may experience higher conversion rates than with Google or Yahoo, you'll also find less traffic. On the plus side, it can be less expensive.

According to ComScore in Feb 2008, MSN sites had only 7.1% share of total Internet searches, compared to Google's 53.5% and Yahoo's 16.4%.

You can choose to just participate in "search ads",(your ads are displayed on MSN and Live Search),or "Content Ads", (your ads placed on variousin rmation based websites in Microsoft's partner network), or both. By default, both are turned on automatically when registering. We'll talk more about Content Ads a bit later.

With Search Ads, your ads will be displayed on MSN's search results pages, reaching a potential audience of 49 million people every month.

The adCenter offers a clean interface that's simple and easy to use. Write your ads, pick your keywords and set your minimum bids. If you already use Adwords or Yahoo's Search Marketing, you can easily import your existing ads and keywords. If you need help getting started, there is a "QuickLaunch Program" available to assist you. See:

http://advertising.microsoft.com/microsoft-adcenter/quicklaunch

When setting up your new account on adCenter it will cost $5.00 charged to a credit card. After that, you only pay per click and your card is charged monthly. Of course, you can set a monthly budget of what you'd like to spend.

As soon as you've finished the registration process,it's time to set up your ads. Here's the format: Ad titles can be up to 25 characters, ad text 70 characters, display URL has a 35 character limit. A minimum of six words is required in the title and description. The destination URL is not shown in the ad and can be up to 1,022 characters. This is the page that people will be sent to when clicking on your display URL.

Here's a brief overview of some of the rules. Your landing pages cannot contain pop-ups or be under construction. Your ad copy and landing pages must be relevant to your keywords. There can be no duplication of your ads, no using trademarks that belong to others, cannot use a "nonspecific" call to action such as "click here". You'll also need to pay attention to grammar and punctuation. You cannot repeat punctuation marks, cannot capitalize entire words, and there is no use of xclamation points in your titles.

Before your campaigns go live, MS conducts what they call an "Editorial Review". This is done to make sure your ads and keywords are relevant. If not, they'll be disapproved. Ads can be active, inactive or disapproved.

Following this, it's time to select your keywords/phrases. There is a "keyword research tool" you can use to help with brainstorming. You can type in a URL and it gives suggestions for the page. Again, two or three keywords will work better than singular.

If you'd like some software help, there's a keyword research and optimization tool that's based in Excel. It helps you to build keyword lists quickly and easily and keep precise metrics. You can download it at:

http://advertising.microsoft.com/advertising/adcenter_addin

In addition to choosing your keywords, you'll also want to select the "match types". There are three available.

1)Phrase Match: Any phrase that contains even one part of your keyword will display your ad. For example: your phrase is "new homes", the searcher types in "Chicago new homes" and your ad will be displayed.

2) Exact Match: Your ad only shows up when the searcher types in your keywords exactly. For example: Your phrase is "new home" - they must type in "new home" exactly or your ad will not show up. This is more targeted but you'll get less traffic.

3) Broad Match: Your ad will display if someone types in even one of your keywords in their search request. For example: Your phrase is "new homes" - your ad will display for a search of "new" or "homes".

You can set separate bids for all three match types. Some match types don't apply to "Content Ads". You can also make a list of "negative keywords". These are words or phrases you don't want your ads displayed for.

Now that your ads and keywords are in place, let's talk about the bidding process. There is a five cent minimum bid. In addition to regular bids, you can bid an extra amount above your keyword bid to target customers by demographics. This is optional.

If you're not using "incremental bids", your keyword bid amount is the maximum amount you will pay when your ad is clicked. You pay one penny more than the next highest bidder, all other factors being equal. So, you could potentially pay less than your actual bid amount.

You can also set separate bids for "Content Ads" and "Search Ads". Microsoft does not allow you to see what others are bidding. Your ad ranking can be improved by increasing bids or improving your ad relevance.

So how are ads ranked? Ranking includes: highest bid or incremental bid, greater relevance, and click-through rate.

As mentioned earlier, advertising on the Content Network is optional. Your ads will appear alongside information based pages that contain content that is related to your keywords. Content Ads appear on a select network of high-traffic pages such as MSN Money, MSN Entertainment, Fox Sports, MSN Tech & Gadgets, Windows Marketplace and other participating partners.

Microsoft makes it easy to target your audience with what they call "Intelligent Targeting". With this advanced targeting, you can select the target markets you want to reach by age, gender, location, etc. If you know your target market only goes online during certain times of the day, you can even pick the days of the week and times of day that you want your ads to run.

Conversion tracking is available and with the in-depth reporting function, you can easily keep an eye on how well your campaigns are doing. You can track click-through rates, impressions, and more.

Some excellent resources for further study are:

MS adCenter Labs: http://adlab.microsoft.com/

adCenter Community: http://adcentercommunity.com

If you're already using pay-per-click marketing in your online marketing efforts, you might want to take MS adCenter for a spin. With their advanced targeting, you'll be given the ability to hit your target market with more precision, and expand your reach and on-line exposure.

"Building Targeted Website Traffic With Yahoo Search Marketing"

"Building Targeted Website Traffic With Yahoo Search Marketing"

By Merle

Did you know that more than 4.7 million people use Yahoo every Day? That's more than 2.4 billion searches a month. Not as far reaching as Google, but still a good place to invest some of your pay-per-click dollars in order to advertise on Yahoo and their network of websites. If Google is number one in the pay-per-click market, Yahoo comes in a strong second.

Yahoo's program is called "Yahoo Search Marketing" -originally, “Overture”, and before that “Goto”. You'll find that Yahoo's partner network is not as large as Google Adwords. Some of their partners are: of course Yahoo itself, Disney.com, USA Today, CBSNews.com, MTV.com, Amazon, Ebay, Viacom, and Comcast.

The program works very similar to Google Adwords. You select your keywords, write your ads, pick the minimum bid you want to pay per click and you're up and running. Great minds do think alike.

Relevant keyword selection is again of the utmost importance. You'll want to choose a variety of keywords/phrases in order to reach more potential customers. Try to get "inside your customer's head" and think like they would, then choose keywords they might search for. If you find after a certain period of time certain keywords are not performing, delete them.

Just like Adwords, you can select keyword match types, but unlike Google's wider selection, here you have two choices.

1) Advanced Match Type: Your ads appear for a wider range of keywords. For example, if your keywords were “dogs”, “toys”, and “food”, your ad would be displayed for any of the following searches: "exotic dogs", "toys for dogs" or "food for animals".

2) Standard Match Type: Only displays your ad for exact matches to your keywords. If your phrase is "natural dog food", the searcher must type it in exactly that way. I believe this makes for a more targeted approach.

You also have the option of excluding keywords, and can block up to 250 domains from displaying your ads. If you need help choosing keywords you can use their "find keywords wizard". You type in a keyword and it comes back with suggestions along with traffic volume for those words.

Now let's move on to your ads. Again, just like Adwords, you'll want to include keywords in your title and description as they will appear in bold when the ad is displayed.

Ad titles can be up to 40 characters. You can enter a short or long description, up to 70 characters for the ad body. You also enter a "display URL" (what is shown in the ad), and the “destination URL” (which is not shown to the public, but where the searcher is taken after they click on the ad).

All ads must be named and the description should correspond to the ad group’s keywords. A campaign is made up of one or more "ad groups". If you need help putting your ads together, you can use Yahoo's "ad generation" tool.

Every ad has its own "quality index" which shows up as one to five bars (more bars=higher quality). A high quality index score is important as a low score can cause your ad ranking to drop, or prevent your ad from running at all.

So what goes into "quality index"? According to Yahoo, it's your ads expected performance plus the ads ability to meet the needs of the user (which also takes into account your ads click through rate and various relevant factors). You'll want to test different ads to find those that perform best.

The "Quality Index" also plays a role in your "ads ranking" and the bid amount required. Improving the quality of your ads can help to lower your minimum bid requirements and improve your ranking. So you can see why writing good ad copy is so important. Yahoo's ranking model is based on both ad quality, or relevance, and the bid amount you set.

So how much is the minimum bid? For the "Content Match", it's a minimum of ten cents. For "Sponsored Search", it can be lower or higher than ten cents. Minimum bids on Yahoo tend to run a bit higher than on Google, and they can vary depending on many factors such as: keyword relevance, (as measured by quality of the ads in the "ad group" they're associated with), the number of bidders, and the amounts they have bid. Your ad conversions do not play a role here.

Your keywords will appear as "active" when your bid is greater than or equal to the required minimum bid for that particular keyword. This can change, so you will be notified if the minimum bid is set to increase and given the opportunity to adjust your bids accordingly. You'll find these notifications on the "Dashboard Page" of the control panel.

Compared to "Sponsored Search", which displays your ads on search results pages, “Content Match” places your ads on related information based websites that are included in Yahoo's distribution partner network. Some of these partners are: City Search, CNN.com, Earthlink, Homegain, Homestore, National Geographic, MSN and others. Just like Adwords, you can turn off either “Sponsored Search” or “Content Match”. You can also set up a separate bid for your "Content Match" clicks (min .10). For more information see:

http://publisher.yahoo.com/strategic/contentmatch

Finally, again you'll want to pay attention to your "landing pages", test different versions to see what converts best. Use "Analytics" for setting up conversion tracking. Your landing pages must not include any pop-ups or pop-unders.

Two other excellent resources for Yahoo's Search Marketing are:

Yahoo's Search Marketing Blog: http://www.ysmblog.com

Traffic Quality Center:
http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/trafficquality

In conclusion, if you're involved with pay-per-click search Marketing, you'll want to add Yahoo's Search Marketing to your traffic plan. While not as far reaching as Google, they're a strong contender. Besides, as they say you never want to put "all your eggs in one basket". When it comes to pay-per-click marketing, diversification is best.

"Coming in for a Landing: How to Make Sure You Don't Crash & Burn"

"Coming in for a Landing: How to Make Sure You Don't Crash and Burn"

If you're doing any kind of pay-per-click advertising, one of the most important factors of your advertisingcampaign is your landing page. So, what is a landing page and why do you need to pay special attention to what it contains? Great question - let me explain.

A "landing page" is where someone is sent after clicking on one of your pay-per-click ads. When running an advertising campaign, you don't want to send someone to your home page, it's too general. You want to send them to a "special page" that is a direct reflection of what you're advertising. You don't want to frustrate your visitors by making them search through your site to find the page that contains your advertised offer. You need to send them directly to it.

The success or failure of your entire sales campaign can be directly attributed to this page. Make no mistake, the landing page and what it contains is critical to your advertising success online. You might get them to click on your ad, but if your landing page is bad, you won't get them to convert. A conversion is what happens when they purchase your product, sign up for your newsletter, or download your free report. In other words, they do whatever it is you wanted them to do, when they arrive on your page. They perform a "specific action".

So what should a good landing page contain? If you do a search online you'll find volumes of books, articles and forums that deal with this exact topic. You'll find a variety of opinions on what works and what doesn't. While the advice is very helpful, it's best to do your own testing to see what works and what doesn't for your particular situation.

By the same token, there are some tried and true methods that you should utilize when designing your landing pages. The upper portion of the page is your most important real estate. This area is often referred to as "above the fold". You want to include your most important info here. You want to avoid waiting for them to scroll down, as some people may hit the back button before your page finishes loading due to loss of interest.

As a general rule, your landing page should focus on one thing. Ask them to do A, not A, B, C and D. Keep it simple and avoid confusing them by asking them to do too many things at once. Remember, ask them to do one thing and make it clear what that action is you want them to perform.

Have you ever considered how safe someone feels about sharing their personal information with your website? You need to make sure your web site reassures your visitors, via the use of trust logos and a strong guarantee, that their information will be kept confidential and secure. If you can't instil trust, you'll lose the sale
every time.

Following all of this, is the actual copy on your landing page. I can't stress enough how important the words you choose are. If it's littered with bad grammar and misspellings, you won't appear very professional. The actual words in the copy can help to make or break your pages. If you're not the grammar police, hire someone who is to review what you have written.

Also, make sure that the font you use is a decent size, avoid the use of super small fonts. They can make your page hard to read and really aggravate your website visitors. People read differently online, they tend to scan so make sure to use strong headlines through-out stressing major benefits or points.

In addition, you need to limit the amount of outbound links on your landing page. Don't give the viewer a way out. By offering up too many other options they may click away and never return. Take them by the hand and lead them step-by-step to the action you want them to perform. Don't allow them to become distracted.

Taking all of this into consideration, you should be doing A/B testing - also known as split testing – in order to find out what's working and what's not. Google's Website Optimizer is a great tool to use to test different headlines, graphics, layouts and calls to action. This way, you can tweak and make the necessary changes to improve your conversion rates. You can find it here http://www.www.google.com/websiteoptimizer

Finally, don't forget about load time. Make sure that your page loads quickly. Making someone wait for your page to load can have them reaching for their back button in a big hurry.

Furthermore, if you're doing pay-per-click advertising with Google Adwords, your landing page load time now affects your keywords quality score. So keywords with slow loading landing pages may get a lower "quality score" - and that also means paying higher minimum bids.

Taking this all into consideration, you can see how important a good landing page is to your pay-per-click advertising campaigns. If you don't get it right here, you'll be throwing good money down the advertising drain.

Remember, you should be continually testing and tracking so you know what's working and what's not. Knowledge is power and what you don't know can hurt you. Make sure when someone is coming in for a landing, it's a smooth landing. This is not a place to crash and burn.

Private Label Club

Today I want to tell you about a new site that I just came across. It's called Private Label Club and it's brought to you by Jason Oickle. To say that I am impressed would be a major understatement. I mean, what he is offering to free members is just insane.

This is one of the very few sites that I have found that is literally giving away so mach value to free members! There really should be a monthly price tag on just the free membership alone!

Go see what I mean:

http://www.private-label-club.com/?plc=12788

What I love the most about Private Label Club is the powerful elite membership.
I mean, on top of the free content, as an elite member you'll also get 300 plr articles, 24 headers, 12 adsense sites and 3 private label ebooks. And you're going to get all that every single month like clockwork.

This is not just any old crappy content either!

Jason has a team of very talented people to make sure you get only the highest quality possible. It truly is superb, this is the only plr membership I will ever need.

I don't want to waste any more of your time so I urge you to click the link below and secure you're free membership before Jason decides to lock the doors forever.

Don't let someone else grab your spot!

Go now:

Nabit - Track auctions and bid from your Desktop- Are you an avid Ebayer? I love Ebay. It's always the first place I turn to when I'm looking for a great deal on an item. Check out this free software that allows direct bidding from your desktop. From the site it states "You can track bids-and make new ones-without using your Web browser. Once your My eBay list is automatically imported, Nabit automatically refreshes your auction status.
